Rufugee resettlement is the service that the Refugee and Immigration Services of the Catholic Diocese of Richmond has been engaged in for the longest period of time. We have been successfully introducing refugees as newcomers into the welcoming communities of Southern, Eastern, and Western Virginia since RIS was first created many years ago.

RIS Resettlement Services

With offices in Richmond, Roanoke, and Hampton, Refugee and Immigration Services has resettled over 14,400 refugees from Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Ukraine, Somalia, Cuba, Haiti, Iraq, Bosnia, Congo, Sudan, Sierra Leone, Uganda, Afghanistan, Burundi, and Colombia.

Refugee and Immigration Services welcomes the stranger and enables those escaping persecution to begin new lives with dignity through early self-sufficiency. The agency strives to foster a community climate of acceptance for persons of different cultures.
